Star Trek fans are the same today as they were back in 1973.  But back in 1973, Trekkies and Trekkers didn’t have eleven theatrical films and five additional series to make them go out of their Vulcan minds.

But seeing George Takei, Leonard Nimoy and James Doohan as up close and personal as they did back then more than made up for it.

If you’re a Star Trek fan, watch this mini-documentary.  It’s us, 38 years ago.

Star Wars Fan Art of the Day: Vintage Star Wars travel poster series by Steve Thomas.
Inspired by the vintage travel posters of the early 20th century. Prints forthcoming.
Thomas says:

I decided I couldn’t wait any longer to show them. With the release of the art book Star Wars: Visions, and everyone else sharing their awesome Star Wars inspired art, I wanted to throw mine into the web mix.

If you are not watching Downton Abbey you really should be. I was so excited when I found out it was playing on PBS. I was sucked in within the first 5 minutes. The first season opens in Spring of 1912 so the costumes are gorgeous, especially the hats. And Highclere Castle, where it is filmed, is exquisite. I also LOVE Maggie Smith.
You can watch it online the day after it premiers on PBS here.

Seconding the recommendation.  Maggie Smith is awesome.

Teaser Trailer of the Day: The third teaser trailer for HBO’s Game of Thrones — the highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novel series — premiered last night to the shrieks and groans of GRRMheads everywhere becoming at once aghast at the amazeballs that will be this show, and infuriated by the fact that A Dance with Dragons remains confoundingly absent from their bookshelves.
